Pastor/Teacher Roy L. Carter never gave thought that as a child/teen/young adult, he was being groomed for his present walk in the Lord’s army as senior pastor/teacher, leading a congregation of God’s people.
Growing up the second of five children to pastoring parents, Pastor Roy Carter has served in just about every position within the local church congregation. His father, the late Elder E. C. Carter, led St. John Church of God in Christ in Racine, WI and Pastor Roy Carter has served faithfully as deacon, musician, music director, Sunday school teacher, evangelist, exhorter, praise and worship leader, as well as in several administrative positions, including secretary, administrative assistant, and treasurer.
After having been licensed and then ordained in 1989, Pastor Carter served as Executive Pastor of Gospel Assembly Church, Racine, WI, under the pastoral leadership of his mother, the late Pastor Norma Carter.
In 2001, God gave a new assignment. On the first Sunday of January, the first Worship Celebration was held at New Life Christian Fellowship – with Pastor/Teacher Roy Carter at the helm.
Since that time, Pastor Carter has been careful to follow the direction of God in educating people, that they may walk in fellowship with the Lord. Teaching what he calls practical holy living, Pastor Carter has traveled across the country teaching, lecturing, and preaching the Word of God in a distinct way.
Teaching, praying and serving others are the foundational stones on which Pastor Carter lives, striving to be a great example to people everywhere.
Pastor/Teacher Carter graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer technology from Control Data Institute in 1985. He earned his Master of Theology degree from Andersonville Theological Seminary in 2010 and returned to Andersonville, completing his Doctorate of Theology in 2012.
